Lyrics

Day By Day

Lyric & Music: Kevin Reardon; Copyright 2015

Verse
I remember how we prayed on our darkest day, and I know I always will
When your doctor told us your diagnosis was cancer, time stood still
Those words cut deep but you smiled at me and said, “You ain’t getting rid of me yet”
Then I held you close and said, “I won’t let go, please don’t ever forget

Chorus
It’s a battle that we’re fighting; it’s a war we refuse to lose
You’re beautiful, exciting; you’re my sunrise; you’re my jewel
It can’t cripple us or shatter trust or suppress the love we share
Don’t give up; don’t give in; come what may, we’ll live life day by day

Verse
From the start you were strong, but the treatment was long; seemed so unfair
You always found a way to face each day; even when you lost your hair
Sometimes you’d shine like the gilded night then cry like the rain in June
Baby, I love you so and I hope you know, I’ll always believe in you

Bridge
Five years have passed; you’re free at last, but we know it’s not an ending
We’ve come so far but it’s just a start; each dawn is a new beginning

Chorus
It’s a battle we’re still fighting; it’s a war we refuse to lose
You’re beautiful, exciting; you’re my sunrise; you’re my jewel
It can’t cripple us or shatter trust or suppress the love we share
Don’t give up; don’t give in; come what may, we’ll live life day by day
We’ll live life day by day
