Lyrics

Keep Smiling On

Lyric & Music: Kevin Reardon; Copyright 2007

Verse
Mama told me when I came of age, “Don’t let nothing take your roots away
People may try to hurt you, son, but they can’t undo what the Lord has done.”
But, my eyes were wide; my pants were high
And like sharks-to-blood they had me fleeced and fried
Then Mama said, “There’s a way to get by - keep smiling on.”

My buddy called; he lost his job; and he was raving like a two–bit blog
He made his work the only thing in his life; now he’s lost and confused and he can’t sleep nights
I said, “When something starts making you blue
Getting you angry ‘cause you’re feeling abused
Well, let me tell you just what you can do - keep smiling on!”

Chorus
Keep smiling on; no matter how things might go wrong
There’s a dream to depend upon and it’s deep inside your heart – so keep on smiling
Keep smiling on when it seems all hope is gone
That’s when you know you must be strong; so keep smiling on

Verse
I met a guy shining shoes today; smiling from his toes to the tips of his play
I asked him how he got that point of view?
He said, “I know something most don’t and it’s true
Money is nice and it makes you feel fine
But it can make you do things that are out of line
And a smile never cost nobody a dime, so keep smiling on!”

When somebody starts into making you blue
Getting you angry cause you’re feeling abused
Well, let me tell you just what you can do - keep smiling on!”

Chorus
Keep smiling on, no matter how things might go wrong
There’s a dream to depend upon and it’s deep inside your heart – so keep on smiling
Keep smiling on when it seems all hope is gone
That’s when you know you must be strong - so keep smiling on
Keep smiling on, no matter how things might go wrong
There’s a dream to depend upon and it’s deep inside your heart – so keep on smiling
Keep smiling on when it seems all hope is gone
That’s when you know you must be strong - so keep smiling on
