Lyrics
In a faraway town on top of a mound rests a stone by the name of Maurice
At the base of this mound not very far down lived Sue Ant (she was a lover of his)
Every day about five she'd come up by his side and together they'd watch the sun set
Though they knew that their pairing was to some a bit daring, they were happy as Stone and Ant get
Now Sue was a groover and Maurice an unmover and she liked to go out on the town
But he was understanding and so undemanding, he didn't mind being stuck on his mound
Though she went out with others if she had her druthers she'd rather be up by his side
So, to boys on the phone, "If by four I'll be home", she'd demand, then meet Maurice at five
But as love stories go, as sadly we know, the hand of misfortune may knock
And the main problem source was her father of course who wanted no part of this rock
So for days she stayed home, left Maurice alone; how he longed for his little Sue Ant
And she wanted him too, "Oh but I do! And I'd come if I could but I can't"
Oh the perils of love and the hardships thereof, to some it'd seem hopeless I fear
But Maurice had a plan, he'd go talk to the man, and somehow this mess he would clear
So he started to shake, he quivered and quaked, and he struggled as hard as he could
And with one mighty lunge he started to plunge down the mound where so long he had stood
Now you might think it noble that someone immobile should move from his spot on the top
And I guess that it was but he shouldn't have cause poor Maurice had no way to stop
And of all rotten luck in his pathway was stuck the house of Sue Ant and her kin
And wouldn't you know it ol' Maurice would blow it, he landed on top - sealed them in
Well I know that it's sad and you're probably mad because I'm leaving this story in doubt
So would somebody please kindly lift up Maurice and let Sue and her family out !!
